Tryathlon Kid!

Lachie did his first Weetbix Tryathlon...getting the bike set-up in transition Racing brief and meeting the celebrities, then the warm up Trying out the All Blacks inflatable trainer
Yellow caps ready to go...the 8 year olds, Lachie was probably the youngest 8 year old (and perhaps the whitest going by this photo too - 2nd from left, sitting on the edge of the pool)The swim, Lachie's in the middle of the picture. This photos for Tracey!!!
Running to transition
First lap of the cycle, doneAlmost the end of the run leg
Heading to the finish line (there's a couple of video cameras there with footage going to be available online!)
Proud boy with his medal! He wasn't puffed, red or sweating even...had a little drink of water and didn't even feel the need to sit down for a while...like a stroll in the park ay Lachie!
A nice day off school! Although he went back afterschool for cricket!
Three local tri's, the school one/s and then he's keen to do the Palmy one!
No stopping him now!!!

Our BIG 8 year old!

Lachie got his presents a day early too...all the more time to practice the latest craze!
First attempt:
Then we watched some youtube clips and Lachie had some more attempts (yes, he was wearing a helmet), then more tries at the skate park...he's actually getting pretty good pretty fast!

The cake...Lachie designed this in October last year! Top layer is the All Blacks, next is the Hurricanes (new natural food colouring, so Lachie-friendly!), next layer is the Magpies, and bottom layer was meant to be Onga-Tiko rugby club but after using over half the bottle of new blue natural colouring, we decided it would be "sky" and grass instead. I bought the Lego lollies last year as Lachie had wanted a Lego cake once...they're cool! And they really fit together like Lego!

We met lots of friends at Lindsay Bush for afternoon tea...another super-hot party!

Lachie, let loose with the knife - he chose the biggest one we had!
Lolly scramble!
One of the massive spiders the kids found during the bush walk...Charlie took this photo before it saw all the kids faces and ran away to hide! Honestly massive, as least as long as my fingers!
A lovely afternoon with so many special people! Had dinner afterwards at Nannie and Grand-da's (even after so much cake, chippies and popcorn!), and then we had the cream horns that Nannie and Lachie made earlier in the day while us girls went to Amalia's party. Nannie and Grand-da gave Lachie his own cream horn molds for his birthday among other things to add to his "Masterchef" collection! (He's going to need his own kitchen soon!!) And also got him started with his own $1 coin collection.
And wearing the t-shirt that Daddy's getting all the credit for (when all he did was give it to him!) - but it's just SOOOOOOOOOO appropriate!!!! It says Lachie and 8 on the back. Happy birthday to our big 8 year old!!!

Pikelets and Waa Waa's

Lily had an ugly looking throat (she got very upset when I said she couldn't go to school) but seemed fine all day...for lunch we made the pikelets we didn't make for her red party...complete with jam and cream and a red cuppa!
Cheeeeeeese...
Waa waa...Cooper loves his waa waa's at night with me and Lachie!

Painting the town RED!

Well, thankfully not the town, and no paint on the house either!
Lily (one of our very pink girls!) wanted a RED party this year. She designed her cake, the menu, everything really! (The photos are last to first, but I'm tired so that's how they're gonna stay!)
Lily at cake time...
Deciding which part of her cake was her favourite!Craft activity...making sparkly fridge magnets to go home...
Present time...when people arrived Lily politely opened all the cards, but left a huge pile of gifts...hopefully she was able to get the girls to help her with who gave what!
Cupcakes
Happy little dude...
The RED stuff! Including "mocktails" - she can't remember where she learned about them! (I sugared the rims of the martini glasses!)
Cake...front view

Close-up of the giraffe, rose, lippy, handbag and dancing shoes...

So much fun! Then on to round two...

Girls with guns!

Our lovely neighbours from both sides came over after the party for a wind down...well Philip got wound UP!
Watch out!
Using the baby for protection!!
He doesn't look like he's not enjoying it!
Trying to figure out who's on his back!
5 wet children (or make that 6 ay Phil!). Thankfully Claire rescued his phone!
Eden took this of our caterpillars...some are going to a new home over the fence where there's more to eat!

That had to be the hottest day of summer so far!

RWC

While the girls stayed home to do the party prep, the boys went to Napier to check out the Rugby World Cup...the cup, not the competition - Lily keeps asking who won the game!

Bring it on!
