The Party

The Smiles, plenty of them!

The cake (rushed job too!) all designed by Cooper, right down to flavours and layers!

The hiding from the singing

The monster piniata cookie decorating

The farewells

The end!
Most of the cake went to kindy to share the following day, then Thomas came home again...at least it's not solid icing!

Goodbye Taranaki...But First...

Can't visit New Plymouth without several trips to see the monkeys and other zoo animals. The kids decided they could the teach the capuchins to dance!

Cooper had an infected eye so had to wait for the chemist in the mall to open, then he needed a sleep after having a terrible night with his eye. So we drove to the foot of the mountain at the south, woke him, and went for a lovely bush walk to Dawson Falls. Was almost drizzling, and we could hardly see the mountain, but with all the tracks there, can't wait to go back, in either sun or snow!

Foot of the 18m high falls

Cooper did the whole walk easily, even though some of the steps and boulders were quite high!

And on the last part up the road, Lily decided the rubbish was awful so had to pick it all up, often with the help of Eden flicking it out with her umbrella!

New Plymouth Competition

Lovely drive over to Taranaki, ready for a 2pm start.
Lily and the beginners started off, four dances in a row...

Eden then followed doing all four of her dances in a row, while I changed Lily into her aboyne (but didn't miss watching a dance)! Eden's first time dancing out the sword...success! No kicks or anything :) She was super proud.

Primary prizegiving before the beginner national dances, Eden with four medals and a rainbow umbrella.

Lily did very well in her national dances, 1st Lilt and 2nd Flora, also two thirds, a fourth and a fifth, resulting in runner up beginner section! A sash and waiting on stage for the entire prizegiving! Here's the full lineup of winners

And the winners photo

It's about 9pm at this stage! Well done girls!

Alexandra won most points, must have had something to do with her new aboyne outfit, chosen especially for her by the late, lovely Julie.

Soooooo thankful I'd decided to find a hotel instead of driving home (which would have been fine at 7, not 10pm though!) Would totally recommend the Devon Hotel, will stay there on every trip from now on...next ones September, and it's NOT for dancing!!!
