Esperance

Otherwise known as the second most beautiful place in Australia (maybe I should find out where is first!). It's about as far from home to Wellington, without the Levin park pitstop!
Esperance loosely translated is French for hope.
On the way we found fields and fields of what we think is canola plants...almost as good as a daffodil photo, since we'll miss Taniwha this year.

The star attraction at our picnic spot

Bit of a show off, almost as much as his friend that was swimming round the jetty!

Picnic on a beautiful lace on a beautiful day

Why?

Would be a great photo (with some colour adjustments) except for the blurry bit on the lens, maybe we'll have to do another trip to redo this shot since it was such a cool tree!

The beach is gorgeous, fine white sand for miles...and the water wasn't too cold, considering it's winter!

Stopping off at the skatepark after a long walk...Lachie contemplating this ramp, after which I videoed his decent...doubt he wants you to see it though!

A rose between so many (fun to watch) thorns!

Found another secluded part of the coast

And a few scenic shots, just to rub it in!

Looking across the bay to the township. Another 30-odd kms round the coast is Lucky Bay, right by a National Park. Kangaroos are often seen sunbathing on the beach there! Will have to try and fit in another longer stay one day.

And stopping on the way home, just on dusk to see the camels of Norseman.

All the kids tried really hard to stay up and watch the All Blacks, delayed coverage on free tv, started here at 8pm. I couldn't resist and read the tvnz.co.nz match report so after we put all the sleeping beauties to bed at half time, I left Mike to it on his own (as he didn't want to know the score!)

Character Dress Up Parade

We did very well considering Lachie didn't give us the notice til 6pm the night before and we didn't bring any dress-ups with us!!! The school kids dressed up as book or movie characters and paraded in front of the rest of the school...
Here are the kindy class kids. Eden as a Highland dancer, she even did a quick demo for the whole school

Lily as Thumberlina (the Barbie version one) with home made wings using the packaging from the duvet covers! Spot her Teenage Mutant Ninja Teacher!!

Lachie All Black, a few supporters out there, but a louder "Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!" at least he was recognisable! (and not hassled after last weekends game!)

Here are the winners of each class...picked by two senior girls. Their prize is a $20 book voucher each! Some more Aussie books heading for our bookcase! All the kids that dressed up get a freezie (ice block) and a bookmark.

Giving themselves a pat on the back...isn't Harry Potter from pre-primary cute!

Sleepyhead

He's not the only one in the family that has weird sleeping positions! After a big morning walking round Kalgoorlie.

The Other Side of the SuperPit

On the tour bus on the way to the SuperPit.

A view from the other side to where we were last time we went.

Safety glasses we necessary

Check put the hairdos! It was pretty windy the way a small breeze gets swept up the huge banks.

Scale...huge! See the two men by the wheel? They're not Oompa Lompa's!!!

Park time...anytime!

We're missing our yard. But it's only a short walk to the closest park! So Cooper and I go nearly everyday (and he falls asleep in the pushchair on the way home!). Climbing the spiderweb is his new favourite.

And he's pretty awesome on the scooter as well!

Webby

Here's Lily's class friend "Webby" that gets to go home with a child each night and they draw and write a recount of his experiences. Hope we see you again Webby!

First School Assembly

Lachie's stage debut as props boy for his class assembly play "The Wolf's Side of the Three Little Pigs Story". It was funny and Lachie did a brilliant job!

Then he got to make one of the announcements...very brave Lachie!

They sing the Australian National Anthem at assembly, however my kids haven't quite learnt it all! I did download a YouTube clip on my iPad for them before we left, so they recognise it and can sing the last line really loud!
Lily's class led the school in a dance, "Eye of the Tiger". Another entertaining moment!

A friend...

He kept running inside under the back door, every time we put him outside he'd run straight back in! We put him in an ice-cream container until the kids came home from school

Then they all found just the right spot to let him go

A week later the kids have had many chances to try and find him or his friends again, but no such luck yet....

Sprinkler Fun...in August!

And luckily Saturdays are hose days for those whose house number ends with an 8!
Ready...set...GO!

Fun! Only shame is having to wear shoes outside (bonus though, they're dry within the hour!), the grass is prickly and hard, or maybe our feet are too delicate! Either way, it's Dad's rule!

Not too jealous of all the snow that CHB and Wellington people are having, would love to be there...if it was this warm!!! Enjoy it for us and keep the photos and videos coming :)

Cooper's Friday

Fluffy hair! There was a crocodile biting the back of Cooper's neck today...huh? I dunno what happens in that kids brain sometimes! But combing it fixed it, so Mummy's the hero!

Then he went quiet...

Hehe, after the Mummy's touch (well it's a very cold 12 degrees here today!)

I have made dinner, 2 desserts, muffins; dishes done, the floors are sparkly (again!), washing done (still dries in hours on a cold overcast day!); we've played cars, tunnels (up-cycling boxes from food packaging!), rugby with a round ball, basketball with the washing basket, chased birds (well limping after Cooper chasing birds!), searched for lizards, and still hours til the kids finish school and get ready for their first game of basketball tonight!
Thank goodness for the Internet!
