If you know Charlotte, you know how much she's into dancing, particularly highland...and her Mum Jenni gave me free reign on the cake! - I love that! So this is what happened... Colours aren't that flash, it's actually bright pink.
My girls have been really excited about her party (as has the whole dance studio I think!). First a demo by world champion highland dancer Abby-Jane Taylor,

followed by pas de basque lessons (Lily's feet are middle back, Eden's at the back too)
Lots more dancing too! Excellent idea having a venue with a stage!
Oh, and if anyone thinks I'm so perfect that I never fail (seriously, is there ANYONE that thinks that!?!?!)...well sometimes I manage to drop things (blasted carpel tunnel still)...and sometimes it's JUST as I'm about to put bits on the cake! (Well it's only happened the once, but I bet it wont be the last time!) Still, things happen for a reason, the second figure I made was way better ☺ And believe it or not, the head survived perfectly even after flying right across the bench, not even a broken hair or smudged lippy!
I've got quite a few cakes to do for July (including a very special one for Mum!), and my first ever two due on one day...both too cool to pass up!
While I'm my striving to NOT become professional (hold on, I don't earn any money from anything else, does that make me professional already???), I do really love doing these, but also love that I have plenty of other things happening to keep me busy - especially 4 kids!
My girls love each other so much!
Lily had a rather unique dancing style for a while!
Cake time...sorry Jen, I didn't know the candles would do that! Thankfully there were 3 tiers, only two slices left at the end!
Mike and Lachie are at the Aquarium for the night, so Cooper came too and did Cooper-dancing! (Cool t-shirt that I've just bought him...says "Cooper" with a big "1" on the back! And if you can't read it, the front says "c'mon the bay!))

Lachie was very excited about his first rugby tournament. This is rippa, usually played by Lily's age, but this tournament was for years 3-8 playing rippa...must be kinda hard to go from tackle to non-contact! Lachie had a great day, beautiful weather, and even a few runs wuth the ball (photo by Lily). Topped off by a wasp sting not long after I left...he was well looked after and quite proud of how much it didn't bother him! (And yay for allergy testing, I could relax at Eden's swimming lesson knowing he would be fine)
Normally Lily would be in school on a Tuesday and normally the girls wouldn't dress like this to watch rugby in the mud (well, most of the time) but we had been to a show in Napier so stopped off to watch some rugby on the way to swimming; very cool show - and Lily's teacher didn't mind at all, her parents used to take her out of school to see shows when she was little too.

This should really be heaps of posts, but I'm cold and think I'll do it as fast as possible! So here goes...
Oh, firstly a big welcome to all the Kiwi Mummy Bloggers and friends (www.kiwimummyblogs.blogspot.com) and to Mim for getting me on there! I don't really do comments, but my e-mail address is mikeandsarah@actrix.co.nz should you feel the need to comment!!!
On Queen's Birthday Monday (seems like soooo long ago!) we went to Wellington to meet Jacob Kennett Gardner, when he was 2 days old (he was born on the anniversary of Grand-dad's death 10 years ago, hence the Kennett - nice eh ☺). We were all very impressed with him, and his lovely family... And we got to have a quick catch-up with Toby and James and co. too
Have just dusted off the "big camera" and thought I'd check the stick...these are a few weeks old, Cooper discovering the washing line...a permanent fixture these days!
Lachie's icy game of rugby. They did really well consdering. Lachie didn't listen that well at half time as his boots had gathered a large ball of icy mud that was far more interesting!
Not sure we'll bother with our snow trip next holidays (as has been requested by Lily since January!), it really was cold, and Eden kept complaining her gumboots were sore. Some snowboot shopping first perhaps!
Not sure Eden was that sick, but she had a week off kindy last week (snotty and a night-time cough, but perfectly happy - still we didn't spread anything!). We tried out our new pasta machine (secretly bought for icing, but don't tell Mike yet!)
And just HAD to try some spaghetti for lunch!
This was requested, really! A one-eyed harlequin Persian cat (called Amber-Rose if you're interested!) on a cake for a local guy turning 30-ish...also tried out some icing flax weaving that may or may not end up on their wedding cake later in the year.
And some cute girly cupcakes for Annabelle in Dannevirke that turned 1 the other weekend...hope they made it ok as her uncle was very casual about carrying such precious things!!!
And some random pretties for a family that lost their home to a fire, lots of people have been taking turns to do them some baking, I might have gone a bit overboard on my turn, baking like crazy (what's new!) but they deserve special treats!
The kids had a school disco last Friday night with the theme "at the movies". Lachie hasn't seen the Incredible Hulk movie, but knows of it, and Lily wanted to be Babe (pink hair and all!)
He's so tough!
Lily and her friend Lucy
Lachie and Emma again...apparently their relationship is so special that Lachie's the only one that's allowed to call Emma a ginga (but he doesn't because he doesn't think Uncle Nathan likes it that much)
Lachie and Lily both got in the best dressed final (where all four of the finalists won)
Lily's latest paediatrician is brilliant; it was so obvious she was so sick when she didn't want to go to dancing, but look at her face now...back to loving it!!!
Lily and her dancing friends practising for this years recital (still 6 months away!). Can I brag??? Lily's teacher says Lily has the best timing of the whole company...she didn't get THAT from her FATHER!!!
Lachie's started swimming lengths after a belly-flop, I mean dive!
Beautiful blue eyed boy with two of his favourite things...water and ball (and apart form Mama and peg) his only words - but yay, the sign language is starting to come out...eat, drink, bed, teeth, and more.
Oh no, another one ready for highland dancing lessons??? Oh wait, his foot's not quite pointing correctly!
Phew!
