When I Grow Up...

The theme day for Music this term was "What I Want to Be When I Grow Up". Lily and I have been talking about this for weeks, she's been given lots of options..but she kept coming back to the same thing..."I want to be a tiger" - best not to argue! There's at least a good chance she will one day end up working with animals!

She did keep insisting she was a "patting tiger" (that is a tiger you can pat, if you didn't realise!) - and of course, all the kids did!

Eden wore her Queen costume, it's been almost 3 months since she last wore it. Her "slippers" are almost too small, and here she's lost one (just like the fairytale!)

Then we went to kindy to go on another trip, this time to the local school to watch a rehearsal of their concert. It was cool. We saw all the kids we knew...the Henderson's, the Hill's, Kasey, Finn, Samuel, Arden...

It's also BlackOut week at Kindy this week. Lachie (nor any other kid) didn't get the parody of his shirt (a dismal loss to England)...but he'll need ALL his BLACK stuff this week! Then have something to wear to the Magpies game on Saturday!

Dinner Out

As we worked sooooo hard in the garden, even during the rain (just not the huge downpour that made puddles all over our freshly dug garden!) we decided to go out for dinner. It's taken two years, but I finally think I know what I want to do outside the bedroom windows out the front.
...Here's before......Brandy snaps - first taste for all!
And after...Lily dancing!
Tired kids on the way home (even after big sleeps in the afternoon), I couldn't hold Lily's hand like she wanted, so Lachie did!

Blossom Parade

Lachie and I spent the morning building...still not finished though, wait til you see it!
We went to the Blossom Parade in Hastings.
Started with lunch, then lollipops from a street stall...

Waiting...

Waiting...

It was a great parade, about an hours worth. Eden loved it all! Lily didn't like the really noisy things (like bands!) but enjoyed all the clowns and kids wandering past. Lachie thought the unicycles were the best, 2 schools had heaps of kids riding them (with ease!) - just waiting for him to ask for one for Christmas!

Then Mike stayed home and babysat (that is, slept! - even set his alarm for the rugby!) while I went out with friends (and came second in the quiz - mmmm wine and chocolate!), got home just as the rugby started, so woke Lachie and Lily to watch it with us - at least there were lots of tries to keep everyone awake!

Washing Line Still Favourite

The kids are still getting lots of use out of the new washing line, I even had a go at making a trolley the other day as well - ok, so it's not that straight, and Mike's since offered to make steel everything, but it will do.
Today Lily and I made the bag, "just like Mummy's!"

Here are the pegs I found, and next to mine for comparison, they are so cute - and perfect for little hands!

Still, "just like Mummy", the kids wanted to do some building as well this afternoon...

Here are the sunflower paintings the kids did with Nannie on Grandparents day at Kindy...top Lily's, next Lachie's. I gave Mum my camera, but unfortunately she knocked the setting to video and took lots of footage of her feet and the ground swinging!

Honey needs a haircut now, especially as the weather's warming up...she's booked in, in a couple of weeks...

Daffodils

Kindy trip out to Taniwha - the daffodil farm. The girls and I went out to meet Lachie for morning tea and picking daffodils (to support Plunket) The kids were encouraged to dress up in "daffodil theme" - we decided to wear everything yellow we could find!

Little Helper

With Lily out picking daffodils with Sheryl and the boys today, Lachie at kindy and Eden catching up on sleep, I decided to be a builder...
Only one call to Mike for "technical advice" (and two more calls from him to check up on me!), I wouldn't tell him what I was doing, I only told him I hadn't altered the house...
Lily was annoyed the other day because she couldn't help me hang out the washing (she is always helping with cleaning and ironing though!).
Anyway, look what I made! A rotating washing line.
When I picked her up and took her bunch of daffodils to Nannie, we then went to town to choose cord to string it up - it's cool, green and pink stripes! And I bought the cutest little pegs yesterday in Hastings...

Might need a video to show off the rotation, and close-ups to show the pegs!

Power Cut = Shopping!

We had a power cut for several hours due to a couple of crashes into power poles either side of our place (not sure which one was actually to blame)

So the girls and I did an impromptu shopping trip to Hastings (where they had power!)

Here's Lily's "something 'bout a Magpie" top, ready for next weekend...

Our weekend: well, Mike needs some practise drinking it seems! We were warned that our neighbour was having his 21st so the kids had a holiday at Nannie and Grand-da's. We painted the ceilings (as you do to prepare for a big night out!) and then went next door. Great party, I'd almost forgotten how much fun 21 could be! And it looks like Mike had forgotten how to drink (or how to drink slowly!) It didn't end so well with a guy's arm going through a window (he spent Sunday in surgery repairing 4 tendons and his artery, but is doing ok, out tomorrow - seen the photos!), but Mike yesterday...oh man...he really needs more practise! Any offers?????
